skill tree
Rebuild the skill tree after the reset.
Remastered organizes skills into a tree with three ranks and prerequisite unlocks instead of spending a set number of points. Existing skill points have been reset; returning saves can reallocate immediately. Bonus values, effects and synergies were refined and some skills renamed. Combat adds a dynamic camera, polished non-boss monster behaviour, a disengage shortcut, a horse sensitivity slider, and reforge at Yoana and Hattori. Spend along one line to rank two before you split, then write a manual save.

The three-rank tree and the forced respec
The old board let you drop points into almost any node once you had enough of them. The Remastered tree gates later ranks behind earlier ones. You pick a line, unlock rank one, then rank two, then rank three. That is the whole structural change. Because the graph moved, CDPR reset spent points on upgrade. The support FAQ and the what's-new article both say you can reallocate immediately.
Some skills were renamed and synergies were rebalanced. Do not paste a 2015 or 2022 theorycraft sheet into this tree and expect the same numbers. Damage values, crit rates, and a tier list are not in the Remastered notes. CDPR did not publish a full node-by-node table. What they published is the structure: three ranks, prerequisites, a reset, and refined bonuses.
Advice: on an imported save, respec before the next fight that used to be trivial. On a new game, spend slowly until you have felt the new camera and the polished monster tells. Create a manual save after the first full spend so you can rebuild if a renamed skill is not the old effect. Alchemy, signs, combat and general lines still exist as playstyles; the ranks are what changed.
Camera, monsters, disengage, horse, reforge
Combat is the same swords and signs with a different camera and cleaner monster behaviour. The records below are CDPR's list, not a frame-data dump. Use them as a checklist of what feels different after the upgrade.

How to rebuild after the reset
Load the save, open the character panel, and spend along one combat line until rank two before you dabble in a second line. The prerequisite structure punishes scattering rank-one nodes. Signs and alchemy still work; they just climb the same three-rank ladder. If a skill name looks new, read the in-game description instead of a 2016 wiki row.
The disengage shortcut is hold dodge, then press sprint to unlock and run. Use it when the new camera shows a crowd you do not want. Monster polish means drowners, wolves and similar packs may finish animations and counter more cleanly than you remember. That is not a hidden stat buff you can look up here; it is the behaviour pass CDPR named.
Reforge at Yoana and Hattori is cosmetic: appearance changes, stats do not. Do that after the first region, not during the respec. Horse sensitivity is under Settings → Controls if Roach oversteers. When the tree is spent and a manual save exists, go back to First hours and tick the remaining setup rows, or to Graphics if the fight stutters because Path Tracing came on too early. Do not look here for a numeric DPS sheet; Remastered notes describe structure and feel, not a published damage table.

Frequently asked questions
Why were all my skill points refunded?
Because the tree changed. Skills now use three ranks and prerequisite unlocks instead of a free spend board. CDPR reset existing points and says you can reallocate immediately. Some skills were renamed and synergies were refined, so a 2016 layout will not paste cleanly. Spend along one line to rank two before you split.
How do I disengage from combat?
Hold dodge, then press sprint to unlock and run away. That shortcut is in the Remastered notes with the new dynamic camera and improved target-lock switching. Use it when the camera shows a pack you do not want to finish. It is not a new sign and it does not cost a skill point.
Does reforge change stats?
No. Reforge at Yoana and Hattori changes appearance without changing stats. Do it after the first region if you care about looks. It is unrelated to the skill reset. Horse control is a separate Settings → Controls slider if Roach oversteers after the upgrade.
